Located East of the Melbourne CBD and nestled within the thriving hub of Collingwood, 71 Langridge sits prominently, enveloped by precast finishes and formliners that combine to create a dynamic and contrasting facade.

Melb Arch Precast were engaged to outfit the facade of 71 Langridge with a series of precast concrete panels. The five-storey high north-facing facade is encased in panels of brick inlay, with an additional two levels above in minimal, white cement panels. The south-facing facade is veneered in fluted formlimers painted in earthy / brown tones offsite, and together, these varying precast panels combine to bring about a cohesive and considered landmark.

For the expansive brick streetscape, to create a more seamless look there was a need to minimise the amount of joins in the brickwork panels across the facade. To overcome this, Melb Arch Precast employed the use of large, oversized brick panels to reduce the number of visual joins across the north-facing facade.

Melbourne Architectural Precast were able to facilitate and complete another major feature of the project, with the intricate installation of several 800kg fire stairwell windows. These substantial windows were installed within the concrete panels at the Melb Arch Precast factory, prior to site delivery.

“The combination of off white cement, red rustic brick inlay tiles and earth brown stained fluted formliner gave this building its significant street appeal”
